	‘a long run’은 직연하면 ‘장거리 달리기’라는 의미가 되겠다. 위의 대화에서 사용된 ‘in the long run’은 ‘장기적인 안목으로 볼 때에는’ 정도의 의미 표현이다. 반대의 뜻으로는 ‘in the short run’ (단기적인 안목으로 볼 때에는)이라고 사용 할 수 있다. ‘run’ 대신에 ‘term’을 사용해도 크게 바뀌지 않는다. 예를 들어 ‘in the short/long term’이라고 사용 할 수 있다. 참고로 ‘장기적인 목표’는 ‘a long term goal’, ‘단기 목표’는 ‘short term goal’로 사용 할 수 있겠다.
