[107장] 시간을 나타내는 전치사 at, on, in

1. at의 사용

1) 분명한 시간을 나타내는 말과 같이 사용할 때

at midday              at midnight             at 3 o'clock            at 8.15

2) 짧은 휴일 - 크리스마스나 주말 등

ex) I'll see you at Easter.

      We often go walking at the weekend.

3) 기간이긴 해도 하나의 점으로 생각이 들 경우

ex) I get paid at the end of the month.

4) 식사를 나타내는 어구 (breakfast, lunch, dinner)

ex) That morning at breakfast, my brother told us he was getting married.

5) night와 같이 사용할 때 - 특히 밤일때, 또는 매일밤을 뜻할 때

ex) People can't go out on the streets at night any more, it's so dangerous.

하지만 밤 중간을 뜻할 때 또는 the middle of 라는 어구와 같이 쓰일때는 in을 사용합니다.

ex) It's Ann's birthday some time in the middle of May, I think.

      I felt very restless in the night and had to take a sleeping tablet.

6) at the moment 라는 숙어로 사용될 경우 -> 지금이란 뜻

     in the moment는 짧은 시간 동안

ex) John's in Korea at the moment.

      I'll be with you in a moment.

2. in의 사용

1) 좀더 긴 시간을 나타낼때, 계절이나 몇 달이나 혹은ㅇ 해를 나타날 때

ex) In the winter you can only use the road with a four-wheel drive vehicle.

      In the days that followed her operation, she spent a lot of time in bed.

2) 일어난 일이 얼마나 유지가 되는지 언급할 때

ex) In a few minutes we will be arriving at Delhi Airport.

3) 무엇을 익히는데 걸리는 시간을 나타낼때

ex) He learnt how to program the computer in just a matter of weeks.

4) 하루의 부분을 나타낼때

ex) Temperatures today should reach 25°C in the afternoon.

-> 이런 경우에는 during을 사용할 수 있습니다.

3. on의 사용

on의 경우는 특정한 날을 지칭할 때 사용합니다.

ex) We're meeting again on Friday.

      I get paid on the last day of the month.

      I've got a meeting on Monday morning.

     It's her birthday on the 21st.

     We went to a party on Easter Sunday.

4. at, in 그리고 on 사용시의 주의점

다음의 단어들 앞에서는 사용하지 않습니다.

all, any, each, every, last, next, one, some, this, that

ex) I'll do it in the morning

      He hasn't been here all morning.

      I'll see you again on Friday.

      I'm going to Oslo next Friday.

또한 (the day after) tomorrow, (the day before) yesterday 앞에서도 사용하지 않습니다.

ex) The weather was beautiful yesterday.
