[117장] it의 용법 - 2

1. 가목적어로 사용되는 it

가주어 만큼은 자주 사용되는 구문은 아니어도 동사의 목적어로 it을 대신 사용할 수 있습니

다. 주로 좋아한다 아니다 정도만 이런 구문을 씁니다. enjoy, hate, like, love, don't

mind, resent 등입니다.

ex) I hate it that you can swim so well and I can't.

      We always like it when you stay with us.

많은 다른 타동사들의 경우 목적어를 직접 받습니다.

ex) on the train she discovered where she had put her ticket.

      He finally accepted that he would never become a doctor.

또한 ~에 대한 행위가 어떻다고 평가하는 경우 it 을 사용한 가목적어 구문을 사용할 수

있습니다. 주로 사용하는것은 believe, consider, find, feel, think입니다.

ex) Officials have said they believe it unlikely that any lasting damage

      to the environment has been done.

       I thought it a waste of money to throw away the food.

leave 나 owe 등을 쓸때는 to 대상을 사용해서 ~에게를 표시해 줍니다.

ex) Don't bother to arrange anything. Just leave it to me to sort out.

      She owed it to her parents to do well at college.

regard, accept, see, take, view 등은 ~를 어떻게 판단한다라는 구문으로

많이 쓰입니다.

ex) We see it as an insult to have received no reply to our letter.

      I thought it was a very ordinary butterfly, but Tom regarded it as

     extraordinary that we should have seen it.

      I take it as encouraging when students attend all my lectures.

 

 

 

 

2. 관용어구의 표현

It is no ... 와 There's no ... 로 사용되는 관용어구 표현이 있습니다.

다음의 예문을 통해서 뜻을 알아 봅시다.

 

 

[1] It's no ...

1) It‘s no secret that the President wants to have a second term of office.

→ ~는 이미 공공연히 밝혀진 사실이다.

2) Following the popularity of his first two films, it's no surprise that his

   latest production has been successful.

→ ~는 놀랄일이 아니다. 당연한 일이다.

3) It's no wonder Dad felt angry. His car was a complete wreck.

→ ~는 당연한 거다.

4) It's no use telling me now. I needed to know a week ago.

→ ~할 필요가 없다.

5) It's no good getting annoyed. That won't help solve the problem.

→ ~해도 소용없다.

6) It was no coincidence that they left the party at the same time.

→  ~은 우연이 아니다. 의도된 거다.

7) It's no longer necessary to have a visa to visit the country.

→ 더 이상 ~가 아니다.

 

 

[2] There's no ...

1) I'm afraid there's no alternative but to ask her to leave.

→ ~말고는 대안이 없다 ~할 수 밖에 없다.

2) There's no denying that he's a very good footballer.

→ ~는 의심할 여지가 없다. 사실이다.

3) There's no hope of getting money for the research.

→ ~할 가망성이 없다. 불가능하다.

4) There's no need to explain how it works; I'll read the instruction book.

→ ~할 필요가 없다.

5) There's no point in buying an expensive computer unless you plan to use it a lot.

→ ~할 필요가 없다.

6) There's no question of agreeing to his demands.

→ ~는 의심의 의지가 없다.

7) There was no reason to be pessimistic.

→ ~해야할 이유가 없다.

8) There's no chance of finding a cure if we don't fund more research.

→ ~할 기회조차 없다. 불가능 하다.

9) There's no doubt about the authenticity of the painting.

→ ~의심의 여지가 없다.
