[113장] 동사뒤의 전치사의 쓰임 - 3

1. care

care about/for는 다른 사람에게 애정이 담겨 있을때 사용합니다.

ex) If you really cared about/for me, you wouldn't spend so much time away from home.

      Jim and Ann are always together. They seem to care about/for each other a lot.

care about는 ~엔가에 신경을 쓰고 있음을 나타냅니다. 관심사라고도 할 수 있죠

ex) Frank cared about his clothes more than anything else.

      He doesn't seem to care about the effect smoking has one him.

care for는 누군가를 돌본다 간호한다는 뜻입니다.

ex) Jean cared for her disabled mother until her death last year.

      You need to consider how easy it will be to care for the garden.

care for는 주로 부정문에서 좋아한다. 그리고 ~를 부탁할 때 원한다라는 뜻도 됩니다.

ex) I don‘t care for the theatre much.

      Would you care for a cup of coffee?

care 가 그냥 동사로만 사용되면 주로 의문사와 더불어서 중요하게 생각하게 생각하지 않는다라는 뜻으로 쓰입니다.

ex) I must buy it. I don't care how much it costs.

      He often walks along the street singing loudly. He doesn't seem to care who is around.

      I don't care if you're busy. I need the car today!

 

 

2. shout/point/throw

shout at은 누구한테 이눔시끼야 하고 소리치는 겁니다.

ex) Don't shout at me, I'm doing my best!

 

shout to 는 ~에게 소리치다 란 의미입니다. 멀리 떨어져 있는 상대에게 주로 쓰죠.

ex) The taxi driver shouted to someone across the street. 'Is the station near here?'

point something at은 특정한 흉기를 가지고 누군가를 노릴때 사용합니다.

ex)She pointed the knife at me and started to laugh.

point at/to 는 손가락으로 무엇인가를 지칭할 때 사용합니다.

ex) The food's over there, ' said Toni, pointing at/to/towards the corner of the room.

point to는 어떠한 것이 사실인지 아닌지 혹은 일어날지에 대해 의견을 말할때도 쓰입니다.

ex) The increase in house prices points to an upturn in the economy.

throw to는 누군가 잡을 수 있게끔 무언가를 던지는 것을 말합니다.

ex) Fletcher picked up the ball and threw it back to the goalkeeper.

throw at은 맞추기 위해서 던지는 것을 말합니다.

ex) A monkey was sitting in the tree, throwing nuts at anyone who walked past.

 

 

3. wonder

wonder about 미래에 일어날 일에 대해서 생각하거나 혹은 궁금해 여기는 것을 말합니다.

ex) I've been wondering about visiting Lynn.

      John has looked tired recently, and I've started to wonder about his health.

wonder at는 에 매우 감명받다. 놀라다 라는 뜻입니다. 조금 문학적인 표현이긴 합니다.

ex) The children had their faces pressed to the glass of the cage, wondering at the tigers they could see only inches away on the other side.
